Improving Health & Well-Being
A Money Manifesting Ritual (with Landria Onkka)
Same! I wait till college-prep items go on clearance, so I have a mini closet. I even keep store hangers since they hook on each other & can easily make a days worth of clothes & accessories into an all-in-1 package!
Yay! I love Lindsay! So excited for this January collab! 😍😍
I mean great video and everything, but I really would have loved to see an ottoman in the shape of a yak
Lol, I had no idea ottomans in the shape of a yak were a thing!
Can you please make a video on making homemade pasta sauce? Haha
oh my! lindsay, Im so excited for this!
Literally everything you said about cleaning is so true. Sometimes my bedroom is really messy and I can't stand it, cleaning makes me feel really loved. I'm actually doing it for me, so I can live in a tidy and cute place for the next week.
Lindsay Ellis, back at it again appearing with all my favorite YouTubers. I love it.
There's Church Sunday morning , that for me makes the week go better, and Sunday evening too. Good video .
Did she just casually say she wanted an ottoman shaped like a yak, or did I hear that wrong??!! 😂
Having a set routine is amazingly freeing for my mind. I feel like I can finally make some other decisions.
In this episode of The Financial Diet Chelsea gives us her 6 weekly rituals that have transformed her lifestyle for the better. Want more content like this ? Check out this video : https://youtu.be/ZdvviBET9YQ
I'm just gonna slap a, "God bless this mess" sign on the wall and call it a day.
I love the long pause before she said “unnecessary” lmao like she wasn’t fully committed to the ottoman in the shape of a yak being unnecessary
Very good and practical advice. Thank you for sharing.
Very good comic delivery. Possibly the funniest I have seen over the past from TFD 🙂
@9:47 "There is basically no limit to the amount of crap I can justify buying."
My stock response to being told I am a horder or "Why did you buy that?" is
"Collector and curator."
But even those items are marked for culling but after selling or otherwise the other stuff boxed up ready to sell. How is that going? Work in progress 🙂
Yehey, I snapped to attention when you said Pilates… I love it too and work out 3x a week. Please, try the reformer and other equipment classes. They are great for resistance and will help strengthen your mat practice. Enjoy!
The Fly Lady system of cleaning is excellent…15 to 20 minutes each day in focused areas. I recommend it. The clean, shiny sink is definitely worth it!
Lindsay!!!! Gonna miss Chelsea in January but I always love to see my favs cross pollenating!
Glad to see Lindsay coming on-board for a bit
Congrats on your new apartment! NYC is very expensive and I've been considering whether I want to stick with renting, or invest a large amount of capital into buying a home in NYC (I intend to stay in NYC for a long time, perhaps even retire) . As you've lived in NYC for so long I wonder how you feel about this! Most people will insist on buying instead of renting, but NYC is such a unique market it's hard to get an idea of what is the financially savvy route, especially with the inflation.
I keep a list of things I want to buy and home projects to tackle. I put my change in a jar as well as abt. $5 a week. I then use it for those items and projects. I have bought a bathroom dresser with that money, put up shelving, fixed my closet, bought a "writing," club chair, and top down blinds. Also I do not use cc or debit cards except online. I find I wasn't concious of the money I was spending. I use cash only while out and about. It lets me see the money dwindling. and if I am spending too much I can adjust. Like if spending too much then I'll make sandwiches for lunch for the rest of the week if for some reason I have not cooked or will stay home more or something. I also roast a chicken and make some sort of casserole every sunday. At work for lunch I'll buy a salad and/or sides to go with it. These little things have helped a great deal.
Am I the only one who looked up the “ottoman shaped like a Yak”. 🤣
Lindsay OMG ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Video starts 2:40…
This video is low key really funny 😂
You might like the book An Everlasting Meal. It’s about batch cooking that snowballs over time. Basically you make something and continually add to it and it morphs into several things over time as you us leftovers from the previous night.
"constantly in a low-grade state of decay" is such a mood
I like doing 15 minute speed cleaning every day to tackle basic tasks and a deeper clean (vacuuming, etc.) on Saturday morning.
Lindsay omg was watching her vids then bam also here on TFD shookt
I love Lindsay!!!
How are you making your mood boards? Pinterest? Photoshop? Classic scissors and glue?
Chelsea has the best personality and has that touch of bitchiness it is just what I like. She says it like it is basically and I agree with almost everything she says in her videos. Funny, likeable, and always useful! Now I need to figure out how the hell she cleans her house in one morning. Impossible for me.
Oh heck! I wasn't expecting Lindsay to show up, neat! Anyways, congrats on the new place, and thanks for the great video! 🙂
I kinda want to see some of these mood boards.
Can we please have some low budget/bulk cooking videos please
Love this episode. Not on instagram. Maybe add an apartment tour at the end of an episode? That would be fun. Happy New Year!
Video starts at 2:45…
I agree with most of the suggestions in this video, but I don't really agree with the idea that dreading Monday morning is a choice. If you're in a job that you hate for whatever reason — perhaps you feel like you have to put on a persona to deal with your work, or perhaps your job puts huge demands on you and always leaves you feeling exhausted — you're going to dread Mondays, because you're having to switch from having freedom and autonomy, doing what you want with your time, to putting your head down and grinning and bearing it.
I used to be a teacher in a challenging urban school. On Sunday nights, I'd usually have a bit of prep work to do ahead of the new week starting. But no matter how much prep I did, I would never be fully prepared for some element of the shit I'd have to deal with when I got into school on Monday morning. Unexpected staff absences. Pupils throwing tantrums and fighting. School equipment breaking down. Last minute schedule changes. So I'd always dread Monday, as the thought going through my head was, 'Here we go — another exhausting week that's going to leave me feeling completely depleted at the end of it.'
Because I couldn't control a lot of what happened at my job, I couldn't really prepare for it. I imagine that folks who work in similarly strained public services also feel the same. No amount of batching cooking or outfit prepping is going to make you feel prepared for what you could have to deal with that week!
I've changed jobs now, primarily to preserve my mental health. I work in an office that is relatively relaxed with coworkers who I get along with. Big improvement! In my life now, I'd say that these suggestion are relevant.
This is all pretty basic stuff?? Like these are rituals it is what adults are supposed to do.
Mood board…could be an idea board, scrapbook, anything to put ideas you have on future purchases. Could be digital or hardcopy. Don't overthink this. It's not a school project.
Where are you making mood boards? like online? Pinterest or what
Rituals may seem the wrong word choice for this video I feel like Habits would be a better word
And here I though I was the only one who uses fancy coffee treats as motivation for deep cleaning. The tiny positive association really does make a difference.
This feels like a 2019 remake of one of those 50s handbooks on how to be a good housewife. The tone is very similar.
Small comment on your filming location, love the new chair, but the support from the lamp looks like it is coming directly out of your head….which was wildly distracting to me until I figured out it was actually part of the lamp. Congrats on the successful move.
Yay! Lindsay Ellis!!! ❤️
"I was just spending that time being unconscious" I mean what's wrong with that?
I also live in Morningside heights, which affordable Pilates studio do you go to?
How do you and your partner distribute chores and errands?
Quality Content..for FREE. Thank you so much!
I love Pinterest for making mood boards easily ♡
These ideas sound really good! But I'm wondering if you have any tips on how to implement these rituals when you don't have a set work schedule? Sometimes I open in the morning, sometimes I close, and I usually don't have the same days off from week to week.
Loved this video! Can you do some recipe videos for batch cooking?
when i can reliably cook things that aren't disgusting, i will batch cook! I eat a lot of raw meals, ie one carrot, one celery, a handful of nuts, an apple, an orange, a lump of cheese, two pieces of toast, etc etc (a toaster isn't a cooker!)
watching tourists i've learned, it's actually cheaper to spend the big money upfront on a tourist attraction or eg swimming pool entrance, than 'be cheap' and wander round, and fritter more money on coffee, cakes, bargains etc
i demand a picture of an ottoman shaped like a yak
googling yak ottoman after watching this video…
Thank you so much for sharing! Very relevant content. I don't know if this is different from other videos or if I'm sensitive to this today, but I found the frequent change in zoom and clipping together very distracting and a bit stressful. I ended up having to just listen to the episode. Congratulations on the move!
I'm a chef, and even I batch cook. 😀 Otherwise I would be eating take-out the whole week, because if I cooked 8+ hours a day, my brain says no to more cooking, I usually cook something nice for at least 4 days of the week and then I'm excited to get home and eat somethin really nice and home made.
Hello Chelsea,Do you happen to have a video showing how you make a mood board? I know there are others out there but I know I would get more out of yours than others. TY
Chelsea looks more like a cartoon than a real person
The Monday mindset is such a valid point. I'm an elementary teacher and my morning duty is to stand and monitor one of the main hallways of the school (for safety, behavior, reorient lost substitutes, etc). Every Monday, I wave at each student who walks by and I say "Happy Monday!" in the same way that I used to say "Happy Friday!" A few were confused by the switch at the beginning of the year, but it's January and I now get so many "Happy Monday!"s in reply. It has made a huge difference in my and the students' disposition for those 15-20 minutes! Before I began this practice, it saddened me to see so many 6-10 year-olds overtly despondent in the morning. When I asked why they were so sad, the response was typically "Because it's Monday…" If these are their feelings at 7, what could be expected at 40? Some students ask me why I'm so happy on a Monday and I exclaim "Because I get to see you!" Moods instantly improved: Mindset Matters.
When she said, “your body is no longer in a low grade state of decay” I loled at my desk
I love these types of videos, but I do wish I could find advise on productivity and sticking to rituals on a 24/48 life. I'm a paramedic working for a fire department. I don't live a 9-5, M-F life. I also have a PRN job at an Emergency room. Meal planning and bringing food to work has been difficult. I end up wasting food. Sorry TLDR…Do you think you could bring someone on that has figured out making "shift work" life easier and more productive?
"An ottoman in the shape of a yak" 😀 Reviewing my purchases is probably the most important AND most difficult ritual for me.
Thank you so much
For me, naps are an excellent way to enjoy my free time lol
This has been very helpful.
never expected to see lindsay here :000000
If you dread Mondays that much, you are in the wrong line of work.
Not pressuring you but I can't wait for alllll the tips you're gonna come up with when you have kids if you know any YouTube who's savvy and with kids plural lol please anyone let me know
I loved this video! It was amazing! I also can't believe that I thought I was the only one who felt down on Sunday nights up until now. Thank you so much for the great advice!
Is there a video showing how to do mood boards? Thank you 😊
I've looked at that yak ottoman online so many times 😂🤣
Please stop having Lindsay Ellis host your videos, her way of speaking is so off-putting. I can't watch her.
So you spend your saturday mornings cleaning the apartment. What does your boyfriend do? make him clean the apartment with you or do it every other week to save more time.
This is now my favorite of your videos. Thanks!
I feel like this girl is supposed to be my no nonsense therapist! Feel like i had all my excuses kicked to the curb in one video 😁
I started following her Instagram. My thought was , “I guess some people are just born grow-up and others are just kidults still reading comics.”
Me: thinking I'm about to watch a totally normal FD videoLindsay Ellis: appearsMe: high-pitched fangirl squeal
You sound just like the logical, reasonable voice inside my head. Thus watching you strengthens that voice, increasing the chance that I'll actually listen to it over all the others 🙂
Batch Cooking? CHECK! This has changed my life
I would like to see an example of a mood board! I’ve never done one before! First time viewer and I liked your video!
Ahaha. The ottoman. I love Chelsea.
I started a new job last month and took a week off before hand to do a huge clean of the flat and an epic chuck out of pointless clothing and crap from my bedroom. I have a Bedroom floor for the 1st time in My Life and I have found that scheduling time aka creating rituals is the Best coping mechanism I've ever had for my ADHD& the associated anxiety I experience. Helping me learn German too.
