Differences Between Orthodox and Atheists (Pencils & Prayer Ropes)

Hello my siblings in Christ and welcome to one of the most requested videos ever! So, it begins right now! Orthodox believe that there is one God. Atheists do not. Orthodox believe that God is the Trinity of three divine Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, with the Son being eternally begotten of the Father and the Holy Spirit eternally proceeding from the Father. Atheists do not. Orthodox believe that Jesus existed. Atheists say that He did or didn’t. Orthodox make the sign of the cross by joining the thumb, the index finger and the middle finger of their right hand, while folding the other two, and thus touching the forehead, navel, right shoulder and left shoulder. Atheists do not. Atheists have a day off on Christmas. Orthodox have a day off on Christmas. Orthodox believe that God is the creator of the entire universe. Atheists say that He isn’t. Orthodox make a distinction between the essence and the natural and substantial operation flowing from the essence in line with the relationship of cause and effect. The essence is imparticipable, the operation is participable; both the one and the other are uncreated and eternal. Wholly unknowable in His essence, God wholly reveals Himself in His energies, yet in no way divide His nature into two parts, knowable and unknowable, but signifies two different modes of the divine existence, in the essence and outside of the essence. Atheists say no. Orthodox believe that the soul is conscious after death, awaiting resurrection. Atheists claim that there is no resurrection. Also that the soul isn’t conscious. Also that there is no soul. Orthodox believe that God’s commandments are for all people and that objective morality is to be found within them. Atheists believe that there is no such thing as objective morality. Orthodox believe that magic is sin. Atheists believe that there is no magic. Or sin. Orthodox argue with atheists. On the other hand, atheists argue with Orthodox. Atheists teach that there is no Zeus. Orthodox also teach that there is no Zeus. waaaat Orthodox are accused of being Satanists by fringe Evangelical groups. Atheists are also accused of being Satanists by fringe Evangelical groups. And thus, common ground was found. Peace was signed. There was much merriment. Friendships were cultivated and good vibrations abounded. But this was all a ploy, for Orthodox conspired to slaughter all the atheists because God told them so, and atheists plotted to kill all Orthodox because there is no objective morality so why not. I am so thankful for giving you this opportunity to learn, because internet is, above all else, a place for learning. So, remember to subscribe, and there will be many more useful videos like this. Bye.

Blame Augustine of Hippo, but I do actually believe Zeus exists. And that he's a liar, immoral, and wants to be worshipped. And is therefore not worth worshipping. (The City of God, Book 1, Ch. 32)

I don't think all other religions are purely psychological. They probably also have actual spirits behind them. And they don't have your interests in mind.

1.Is that sin?(If is,how big that sin is)
2.Is there a rule that orthodox family need to have a saint?(I heared different answers.)
3.I remember your video about God's message to us and praying trought saint to Holy Spirit. So,is this a big problem?
4.If family decided to restart celebration of saint,do we need to pick Saint Lazar or someone else(or it is just to us?)
5.If picking of other saint is answer,is there a rule about picking saint?
6.Is there advice for picking saint?
7.If family is still againts it,what should I do?

2:00 – Among we atheists are those of us who do believe in objective morality, like (but not limited to) 'Objectivists' i.e. followers of the late libertarian-esque philosopher Ayn Rand who laid out an objective morality & was herself an atheist. Of a different philosophical persuasion, cognitive neuroscientist & atheist author Sam Harris wrote 'The Moral Landscape: How Science Can Determine Human Values' about his conception that the scientific method could be used to discern objective morality. So yeah, we do exist.

Atheist is literally translates as a 'lack of belief'. They dont claim that there is no god, they claim that they do not have any beliefs about god.
If someone will show to atheist closed box and ask you: "do you belief that there is cat in the box?" Atheist would not claim that box is empty. He would claim that he don't have beliefs about content of this box.

I'm a little hesitant to type this out because I know that the video is partially a joke, but I guess that it's best to correct potential misunderstandings. Some Atheists actually do believe in a soul and resurrection. The only real requirement to be an Atheist is that you lack a belief in God. As long as you don't believe that God is responsible for those things, you're still technically an Atheist. Some Atheists also believe in objective morality. They just don't believe that God is the source of said morality. Some theists, like Kant, might also argue that objective morality exists outside of a deity. It's not unique to Atheists. Some Atheists believe in magic as well. The most common example is found in examining members of the Church of Satan. This brings me to my last point, which is that some Atheists are also Satanists. Obviously, there's the aforementioned Church of Satan, but there's also the Satanic Temple. Neither group believes in Satan. He's more of a metaphorical literary hero for them.

If there's one thing I've learned from being the leader and founder of my college's Secular Student Alliance, it's that getting a group of Atheists to agree on anything is usually not possible. The only defining characteristic of an Atheist is a lack of belief in a deity. If that's all you know about a person, you don't know much about them. Do they support abortion? Do they think religion is a benefit to society? Do they practice BDSM with their girlfriends in their secret sex dungeons on the weekend? There really isn't one answer that can be said to represent all Atheists. It differs from individual to individual.

Not true about the lack of belief in objective morality. If you tie morality to the notion of human well-being, then since well-being can be gauged objectively (albeit never with perfect empirical precision, just like anything else in the natural world), then so can morality. In other words, that which harms humans is morally bad, that which helps them is good. Our understanding of what harms and helps humans might change and refine itself over time, very much like our understanding of the natural world, but it is in no way shape or form 'subjective' in the sense of random and subject to one's whims.
